Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The manuscripts may be written in Bahasa Indonesia or English, and it has not been published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Author Guidelines for Indonesian Basic and Experimental Health Sciences (IBEHS)

1. Submission Components

Authors are required to prepare and submit the following documents for consideration in Indonesian Basic and Experimental Health Sciences (IBEHS):

Cover Letter
Must clearly state that the submitted manuscript is original, has not been published elsewhere, and is not under consideration for publication in other journals.

Title Page
1. A separate document containing the following information:
- Full title of the manuscript
- Full names of all authors
- Institutional affiliations of each author
- Email address of the corresponding author
- ORCID iD of all authors (if available)

  • Note: This file will be used to identify the authorship and is kept separate from the manuscript to ensure the double-blind peer review process.

Main Article File (Manuscript)

  • The primary document containing the manuscript text prepared according to the journal template.
  • Should not contain any author-identifying information (names, affiliations, acknowledgments, etc.) to maintain anonymity during peer review.
  • Must include:

    • A concise title

    • Abstract

    • Keywords

    • Main text structured in IMRAD format (Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, and Discussion)

    • References


2. Manuscript Requirements

  • The manuscript may be written in English.

  • It must not have been published previously, nor be under consideration by another journal.

  • The manuscript may contain research results or scientific opinions (critical review) on all aspects of basic and experimental health sciences.

Title

  • The title should be brief and clearly describe the content of the manuscript.

  • Include all authors’ full names (without titles or qualifications), institutional addresses (department, institute, city, postal/ZIP code, country), and email addresses.

  • Authors and affiliations must be linked using superscript numerals.

  • The corresponding author should be clearly indicated.

  • The title should not exceed 15 words.

Abstract and Keywords

  • The abstract should be informative, self-explanatory, and briefly present the topic, scope of experiments, significant data, and major findings and conclusions.

  • Abstract length: 150–250 words.

  • Standard nomenclature should be used; abbreviations should be avoided.

  • Conceptually, the abstract should include background, methods/principal findings, and conclusions/significance, without using these headings.

  • No literature citations should be included.

  • Following the abstract, provide five keywords for indexing purposes.

Introduction

  • Clearly state the problem, relevant literature, and the proposed approach or solution.

  • The introduction should be understandable to colleagues from a broad range of scientific disciplines.

Materials and Methods

  • Experimental procedures should be detailed enough to allow replication by other researchers.

  • Sources of reagents and materials should be given where possible.

  • Capitalize trade names and include the manufacturer’s name and address.

  • Subheadings should be used as needed.

  • Commonly used methods need not be described in detail.

Results

  • Present all experimental results required to support the conclusions.

  • Write findings in past tense; previously published findings in present tense.

  • Use concise subheadings where appropriate.

  • Explain results without referring extensively to literature. Discussion and interpretation belong in the Discussion section.

Discussion

  • Provide a comprehensive analysis of the results in light of previous research.

  • If appropriate, Results and Discussion sections can be combined.

Conclusions

  • Highlight the significance of the research and how it addresses the research problem.

  • Suggest remaining gaps and potential directions for further research.

Acknowledgments

  • First acknowledge funding sources (if any), followed by personal credits.

  • Keep acknowledgments brief.

References

  • Cite all publications referred to in the text using author-year format in parentheses, e.g., (Riyanto and Suntari, 2023; Achmad et al., 2022).

  • For more than two authors, use the first author’s name followed by et al. in the text; all authors must be listed in the reference list.

  • References cited together in text should be arranged chronologically.

  • The reference list should be alphabetical by author name and chronological per author.

  • Authors are encouraged to use reference management software, such as Mendeley, Zotero, or EndNote.


3. Manuscript Formatting

  • Paper size: A4

  • Margins: Top 30 mm, Left 25 mm, Right 20 mm, Bottom 20 mm

  • Font: Verdana

  • Line spacing: single (1.0)

  • Paragraphs: first line indented 1.2 cm, no extra spacing between paragraphs

Text Formatting:

  • Title: 12 pt, Bold, Centered

  • Author names: 10 pt, Bold, Centered

  • Affiliations: 10 pt, Bold, Centered

  • Emails: 10 pt, Bold, Centered

  • Corresponding author: 10 pt, Centered

  • Subheadings: 10 pt, Bold, Justified

  • Main text: 10 pt, Justified

  • Abstract: max 250 words

  • Keywords: minimum 3, alphabetical order

Citations and References:

    • Use reference management software (Mendeley, Zotero, EndNote, etc.) for formatting citations and reference list.
